Derek Cherkes Achieves Electrical Power PE Licensure

RPA Engineering is proud to celebrate Derek Cherkes earning a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical and Computer Engineering: Power.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Grove City College in 2014, Derek built a diverse and well-rounded career spanning dwelling units, commercial facilities, healthcare, higher education, research and technology spaces, and laboratory environments. Today, as a Senior Electrical Engineer at RPA Engineering, he serves as the lead electrical engineer for projects flowing through our Pittsburgh office, helping guide designs from concept through delivery.

While much of his work supports commercial and higher education clients, he has developed a strong affinity for industrial and manufacturing projects. These opportunities have introduced new technical challenges and hands-on problem-solving, allowing for continued growth and deeper exposure to complex electrical power systems.

Prior to RPA, I had not gotten the opportunity to provide engineering services in [industrial and manufacturing] areas, so each time I have been able to dive into that type of project here has been challenging, exciting, and equally fun. Those projects are hands-down my favorites.

Achieving PE licensure is a significant accomplishment that reflects years of dedication, technical excellence, and commitment to the profession. Congratulations to Derek on this well-earned milestone and on the continued impact he’s making for our clients and project teams!
