Maclean holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and serves as a Process Piping Engineer at RPA Engineering, where he focuses on projects within the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry.
His areas of expertise include specialty gas piping, flammable fluid analysis, specialty water systems, and laboratory design, where attention to safety, code compliance, and system performance is critical. Through his work, he collaborates closely with multi-discipline engineering teams as well as client stakeholders to develop practical, reliable solutions that support both facility operations and scientific processes.
When asked about his experience at RPA Engineering, Maclean shared that some of his most rewarding projects have involved the design of new laboratory spaces at pharmaceutical facilities.
My favorite projects so far have been working through designs of new laboratories at pharmaceutical sites. These types of projects often include specialty gas or water systems with unique constraints, while also getting me more involved in the science and the ‘why’ behind our designs. I appreciate the opportunity to work through design challenges with scientists and gain their perspective in order to create the ideal space for them.
The Mechanical: Thermal and Fluid Systems P.E. license recognizes advanced knowledge in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and mechanical system design, all of which are essential to the complex process systems commonly used in pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities.
